Rippling, reflective water

─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

not sure how much this qualifies as poetry, moreso prose, but either way - it's not a blog post per se, so i'm putting this disclaimer here in case you wish to turn back now:

you look at me with eyes wide open, soaking up every detail of my heart

i feel like narcissus falling into the pools of your pupils, but instead of my own reflection i see someone just as beautiful shimmering under the surface, and i cannot help but be drawn in, your very soul a siren song

we skated past each other for so long, and i thank the stars for taking their time with you, because i don't know that i could have withstood being known and loved so completely even a moment sooner

you pull me deeper into myself, into the version of me that doesn't need to try or pretend to earn the love you so freely give

so much of what i was told about love is that its unstable and uneasy; butterflies and awkward silence and the numbing fear that after all of it is over you will find yourself alone

but i don’t mind alone with you; i dont mind the quiet and the solemn and the shaking—oh, the shaking, gentle lover, with your thighs around my head, hands gripping at bedsheets as you stumble head-first into the infinite (for you are my infinite, my everlasting, and i have never known a love like this)

and when we tangle limbs together in a slowing share of breath, i am safe in knowing i am just the right amount tor you

there are no wrong answers in being yours

there is no price to pay or negotiation to be made; i am yours, and we will guide the rest to fall into place together

i never knew love could look like this, at once effortless and life-giving, two honestly capable souls entwined in an easy embrace

i think of all the years i’ve spent trying to pull love from stone, only to see (as you see, with widened eyes and a disbelieving hunger) that love is not something you pull, but a dough you shape together, fingers slick with olive oil molding what will come

i do not guess with you; i ask and you answer (and how honestly you answer, for you know i am yours), i give and you give, and every unknown part of me you draw into the light and make true

and so i give myself to you, o beautiful boy, with your apple-sweet voice and your knowing smile and your eyes that see beyond what i had ever known was mine

what's mine is yours, my darling, and as long as the fates will it, what's yours is mine
